Tick Tock pure Organic Rooibos tea – a natural phenomenon
Over 100 years ago, Benjamin Ginsberg discovered for himself the amazing taste of the original rooibos tea.
Riding his horse in the remote and rugged Cedarberg Mountains of the Cape in South Africa, he noticed the local farmers and shepherds drinking a rough brew made from dried plants – Aspalathus linearis – known locally as rooibos or ‘redbush’!
Curious, he stopped to try the brew and was intrigued by its taste - tea-like, yet naturally sweet and deliciously soothing.
Having grown up in Russia in a famous tea family, he immediately recognised its potential: a unique taste, without a trace of bitterness. Or caffeine, as he was later to find out.
Fortunately for us, he had learnt all about the delicate art of curing tea from his forbears.
And by applying traditional Chinese curing methods to the leaves of the rooibos plant, he created what we now know as rooibos tea, the naturally caffeine free tea.
Today, his grandson Bruce Ginsberg runs the family tea business and he has created Dragonfly’s Tick Tock Tea, a faithful recreation of the tea that Benjamin first made over 100 years ago.
